Ever felt like you just want a little something to fill in the time between lunch and dinner, or maybe a light lunch snack or appetiser for a larger meal or dinner part? This chickpea chaat is just the thing, made with ingredients we usually have at home, plus a few extras, it takes a few moments to put together.
Ingredients
- 2 chickpeas tins
- 2 large tomatoes, diced and seeds removed
- 1 onion, diced
- Small bunch coriander
- Two-three tbsp chopped mint
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1 tsp chaat masala*
- Pinch of salt
Preparation
Place all the chopped fresh ingredients in a large bowl, add all the spices and give it a good mix.
Serve the chaat immediately, or leave to chill before serving.
*Chaat masala can be found in an Asian grocery store but if you cannot find it, you can create a similar mixture with the following spices:
- Ground pepper
- Ground cumin
- Ground coriander
- Dried mango powder
- Red Chilli Powder or Kashmiri Powder
Mix the spices together and sprinkle 1 tsp over the fresh ingredients and mix it well.
