Serves:

4

Ingredients

- 1 & 1/2 cup Plain Flour

- 1 1/4 tbsp oil

- 1 tsp salt

- 1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

- 1/2 tsp pepper

- 1 cup water

- Preferred oil for deep frying

Preparation

1. Mix the Flour, cumin seeds, salt, pepper and salt together until thoroughly mixed.

2. Add the water gradually, until it forms a stiff dough (see top image).

3. Once you have formed the dough split it into 4-5 smaller parts and leave to rest at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.

4. Take a rolling board or on a floured surface, roll out each ball of dough until it is about 2-3mm (thickness of a pound coin).

5. Once you’ve rolled one out, grab a pizza cutter or a sharp knife and slice into 1 inch diamond shapes, cutting from corner to corner.

6. Turn on your oil and allow it to heat up well enough, not smokey hot. Carefully add the first batch into the oil and immediately stir gently with a spoon or spatula.

7. Let them get very slightly brown and remove from the hot oil onto a plate with paper towels to soak up the excess oil.

Allow to cool and enjoy with tea!
