About the event
After a series of supper clubs in Porto in 2022, Khao Suppers is pleased to be returning for our first residency series. Together with our friends at B28 Apartments, we present a series of evenings celebrating Gujarati food and Portuguese wine.Â
Links between Portugal and India date far back to the 1500s when the Kingdom of Portugal ruled over parts of India. Over 450 years, the Portuguese imprinted on many areas of society from culture, religion, and of course, food. From the introduction of chillies bought over from South America to the use of wheat to create white bread, the influence on Indian cuisine is undeniable. We take these connections of the past and carry these to the present as we bring along our spice box and recipe book to share our favourite dishes with you.Â
For our residency, we share a specially curated  three and four-course meal showcasing dishes created using the freshest seasonal produce. Each course will take you on a journey of traditional flavours passed on from generation to generation. Guests can expect seasonal vegetable shaak, (a type of curry without the gravy and no garam masala), different whole lentil daar (daal) and sides and small plates adapted from traditional dishes. To enhance the menu, our hosts will help us to curate a wine pairing for each course, specially sourced from Portuguese wineries.Â
Our venue partner and host, B28 Apartments present the perfect backdrop for each evening, located in the historical city centre, in a beautiful space that is classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site.Â

TO STARTO START
Samosa Tart
Classic peas, carrot and potato filling in a pastry, topped with ambli chutney.
SECOND COURSE
Anku shaak
Seasonal vegetables filled with a gram flour spice mix, stir-fried and slow cooked in a tomato gravy.
Served with Rotli & Kachumber.
THIRD COURSE
Mung Bhaat
Green mung lentils tempered in tomatoes, garlic and curry leaves, served with basmati rice.
Carrot & chilli Sambharo
Lightly sautéed carrots and chillies tempered in mustard seeds and turmeric.
DESSERT
Srikhand with seasonal fruit puree
Hung curd sweetened and infused with saffron served with a seasonal fruit puree.
