About the event
Join us on 10th December as Khao Suppers returns to the Portuguese city of Porto to share a meal celebrating locally-sourced Portuguese ingredients combining our favourite flavours from our Gujarati recipe book.
Khao Suppers has been sharing homecooked Gujarati food for five years, in London and once before in Porto. Using the dishes and recipes passed on from generation to generation, we tell the stories of humble Gujarati cooking and the many stories forming a special connection. Khao Suppers is a way to connect with new friends and old through food, and meeting around the dinner table.Â
Links between Portugal and India date far back to the 1500s when the Kingdom of Portugal ruled over parts of India. During this time, the Portuguese played a key role in shaping the local culture, from religion to food. From the introduction of chillies bought over from South America to the use of wheat to create white bread, the influence of the Portuguese on Indian cuisine is undeniable. We hope through our dishes to tell some of these very stories!
The host for our Porto Supper Club is B28 Apartments, located in the historical centre of the city, classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site
Guests can expect a welcome drink to start, followed by a three-course meal dedicated to traditional Indian spices created using seasonal Portuguese ingredients.Â
Our menu will be vegetarian and vegan options available on option.Â
The venue does have drinks available to purchase but guests are also welcome to bring their own.Â
