About the event
Welcome to the KHAO X CHOPE CHOPE TEA HOUSE!
Join us on Sunday 7th June for a very special Gujarati and Singaporean/Malaysian Afternoon Tea, where Punam of Khao Suppers brings her Gujarati flavours together with Maki of Chope Chope, who shares the essence of home from her Singapore + Malaysian upbringing.
Nothing celebrates our cultures more than our love for tea. Whether it is Masala Chai or Oolong, we knew an Afternoon Tea would be the most fitting celebration for our first collaboration together. An afternoon of endless tea, 10 different dishes and a whole lotta love of growing up as third culture kids, so come along and spill some tea with us!! This isn't your classic hotel style formal affair, it's going to be boisterous, fun and a real a family-affair: come along with friends, your parents or alone - all are welcome to join us.
ABOUT CHOPE CHOPE
CHOPE CHOPE is a London-based creative studio and kitchen, bringing together over a decade of experience in global brand collaborations, creative
activations, and private dining experiences. Founded by Maki, the food is deeply rooted in family tradition. Many of the recipes were passed down and taught by her father, a first-generation Singaporean-Malaysian hawker with more than 40 years of experience. Today, Maki brings her own contemporary perspective to these recipes while continuing to honour the stories and roots from which it grew. In Singlish, “Chope” means to reserve a seat and at CHOPE CHOPE, everyone is welcome at the table.
ABOUT KHAO SUPPERS
Khao Suppers weave together dishes and stories from founder and head chef Punam Vaja’s childhood. Through a series of supper clubs, pop-ups and brunches, each menu is a celebration of the rich background that forms her identity; a first generation born British Indian with roots in Gujarat, Mumbai and East Africa. The food evokes nostalgia and familial warmth that harmonises tradition and innovation. Founded in 2018 with a humble supper club run from her home, she has taken her brand Khao from East London to the East coast of America to Portugal and even Bombay. Creating experiences that share Punam’s love of food intertwined with stories from her childhood, each event invites you to come along to expect the unexpected and maybe even recognise your own story through the food.
