About the event

This April, we return with our classic Gujarati four-course supper club: Chalo Jamva!

When we first started hosting supper clubs back in 2018, this was the original concept before we were even called "khao". A supper club all about sharing humble Gujarati food. We are so excited to be bringing the first Chalo Jamva supper club back to Spitalfields.

Inspired by humble Gujarati food and great British produce, we share four courses that take inspiration from our rasodu or kitchen to the dining table. Expect something familiar but with a refreshing take. Through this supper club, Khao continues to share traditional Gujarati dishes with a fresh outlook. Each course tells a story of our journey back home to Gujarat and Mumbai, and the connection to the dishes back here at home in London. So come along to eat with us or 'Chalo Jamva'!

 M E N U

TO START

Beets & Roots Fritters made with spiced mashed potatoes and beetroot, coated with a fluffy gram flour batter. Served with 2 types of Chutneys.

Purple Greens Purple sprouting broccoli is lightly pan-fried and topped with fenugreek pickle oil, sesame seeds and served with garlic cashew cream.

SECOND COURSE

Rotlo chalse ne?

A dish close to the hearts of rural Gujarat, we share a millet flour flatbread, called a Rotlo. Served with burnt aubergine or Orro and amaranth leaf shaak.

THIRD COURSE

Boss, ek Pulao khilawo

A Parsi-Gujarati dish, we were introduced to Jack fruit Berry Pulao by a loved one from Mumbai, where this dish originates who shared their way of creating it, using jackfruit. Served with pomegranate & cumin raita.

DESSERT

Sobremesa

A dish we learnt is enjoyed in Gujarati cuisine as much as it is in Portuguese cuisine. Vermicelli pudding made with plant based milk, seasoned with saffron and topped with pistachio pieces.
