About the event
Chai is the Gujarati and Hindi word for 'tea'. It refers to any kind of black tea leaves boiled in water with sugar and milk, and often times, spices. Join us for an intimate workshop + brunch as we look at this popular drink.
Many people in the Indian sub-continent and those who live outside of India have a very unique relationship with chai. It is a necessity, not drunken just in the morning, but throughout the day. It is often served at a tea stall, where you can have a small shot-sized serving for those moments when you need that pick-me-up. It is served to guests who visit, during all occasions and rarely ever does anyone say no when offered a cup!
Here at Khao, we love chai just as our ancestors have! Ever since our first cup, it's evolved in flavours and the way we enjoy drinking it. Sometimes just a small cup is enough, other times we'll need something larger to enjoy with a meal. To share our love and knowledge of this drink and its components, we share a special brunch Chai Workshop where we will take you on a journey of the history of the drink, different forms and ways to prepare and finally end with a special chai-paired brunch meal.
